The governance arrangements of Wheldon Infant School and Nursery are provided below.
What does the Governing Body do?
As Governors, we are responsible for a number of areas including attainment, finance, policies and procedures. Our role involves working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure children get the best possible education to enable them to reach their full potential, in an environment where they feel safe, valued and learning is fun.
Our main functions are to:
- Help set the aims and objectives for the school
- Help to ensure our policies and procedures are relevant and achieve their objectives
- Set targets to monitor the progress of the school to ensure it is meeting its aims and objectives
- Be a critical friend to the school and provide a source of challenge and support.
The Governing Body structure comprises of:
- 1 LA Governor
- 1 Staff Governor
- The Headteacher
- 3 Parent Governors
- 4 Co-opted Governors
Total = 10 Governors
John Hanson is our temporary Chair, he is a local lead governor for Wakefield authority.
Mrs Faye Noon is a co-opted governor and attends the Resource Committee. In 2016-2017 she attended 100% of full governing body meetings. Her term of office ends on 22/3/2022.
Mr David Cooper is a co-opted governor. He attends the Resource Committee and is the chair of the committee. His term of office ends 22/3/2022
Miss Chelsey France is an LA Governor. She attends the Resource Committee. Her term of office ends 12/7/2021.
Mrs Rebecca Blackburn is a Parent Governor .She attends the Pupils and Standards Committe. Her term of office ends in September 2021.
Mr James MacDonald is a co-opted Governor and vice chair. He attends the Pupils and Standards Committee; he is the chair of the commitee. In 2016-2017 he attended 100% of full governing body meetings. His term of office ends on 7/6/2020.
Mrs Laura Murray-Ward is the Staff Governor and attends the Pupils and Standards Committee and the Resource Commmittee. In 2016-2017 she attended 100% of full governing body meetings. Her term of office ends 15/9/2020.
Mrs Fiona Haddock is an Associate Member from September 2017 with no voting rights. She attends the Pupils and Standards Committee and Resource Committee. Her term of office will end in September 2021.
