The governance arrangements of Wheldon Infant School and Nursery are provided below.
As Governors, we are responsible for a number of areas including attainment, finance, policies and procedures. Our role involves working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure children get the best possible education to enable them to reach their full potential, in an environment where they feel safe, valued and learning is fun.
Governors have a very significant role to play in ensuring that, along with the Head teacher and colleagues, they move the school forward in a coherent, cohesive way.
Our main functions are to:
- Help set the aims and objectives for the school
- Help to ensure our policies and procedures are relevant and achieve their objectives
- Set targets to monitor the progress of the school to ensure it is meeting its aims and objectives
- Be a critical friend to the school and provide a source of challenge and support.
The Governing Body structure comprises of:
- 1 LA Governor
- 1 Staff Governor
- The Headteacher
- 3 Parent Governors
- 4 Co-opted Governors
Total = 10 Governors
Helen McMullen is our headteacher.
John Hanson is our Chair, he is a local lead governor for Wakefield authority and our LA governor.
Mrs Faye Noon is a co-opted governor and attends the Resource committee. I. Her term of office ends on 22/3/2022
Mr David Cooper is a co-opted governor. He attends the Resource committee and is the chair of the committee. His term of office ends 22/3/2022
Miss Chelsey France is a Parent Governor. She attends the Resource committee. Her term of office ends 12/7/2021
Mr James MacDonald is a Parent Governor and Vice Chair. He attends the Pupils and Standards Committee; he is the chair of the committee. His term of office ends on 7/6/2020
Mrs Laura Murray-Ward is the Staff Governor and attends the Pupils and Standards Committee and the Resource committee. Her term of office ends 15/9/2020
Mr Mark Oakes-Heppelstone is a co-opted governor and attend the pupils and standards committee. His term ends January 2024
Mr Mark Dillon is a co-opted governor and attend the pupils and standards committee. His term ends January 2024
Mr Richard Hobman is a parent governor and attends the pupil and standards committee. His term ends January 2024
