Victory in Europe (VE) Day - 75th Anniversary

 

On the 7th May 1945 - Germany surrendered unconditionally to the Allies at Reims, France ending World War II. Alfred Jodl, German Chief of Operations Staff of the Armed Forces High Command signs an unconditional "Act of Military Surrender" and ceasefire on May 7th 1945

On 8th May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill announced Germany's unconditional surrender and the end of the war in Europe. Sir Winston Churchill's VE day speech: "God bless you all, this is your victory"

 

75 years later we take time to remember the veterans that fought and gave their lives for Queen and Country. 

We are not able to celebrate in the ways we may have planned due to the COVID-19 lockdown, but we are finding different ways to mark this occasion at home.
