Wheldon Infant School & Nursery

Welcome to Nursery

In Nursery we know that the best learning happens through play. We follow the statutory seven areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage Development Matters and have a high focus on developing your child’s 'Personal, Social and Emotional' and 'Language and Communication' skills. We provide lots of fun activities throughout the day and encourage children to work both in groups and independently.

We also have focused carpet times when we share stories, sing songs and learn phonics. Our activities stimulate curiosity to build 'thinkers' and 'doers'. Our children make lots of choices throughout the day, about snacks and lunches, toys they choose to play with, activities they want to complete etc.

Our provision is enhanced regularly, and is often centered around our half termly topics. See 'Our Learning' page to see our current topic and the cross curricular links we will make.

In Nursery there are lots of adults to support your child on their learning journey.
