Here is a video showing the correct pronunciation of set 1, sounds. Turn off the volume as the video plays to see if your child pauses or struggles to recognise any of the sounds. If they do, please go over that sound with your child. Play some exciting games with your child, such as Fred talk games to help their oral blending skills. Below is a document which explains how to play some FRED games with your child.
Writing
It is super important that we are forming our letters correctly. In class this half term, we will be focusing on the 'zig zag monster' letter family. The zig zag monster letter family consists of the letters v,w,x,z. In this letter family we discuss how the down and up movement makes the zig zag pattern. When writing our zigzag letters we have to remember to keep our lines straight. In addition, we also use the RWI handwriting rhymes to remember how to form each letter. You could write the letters using different materials such as chalk, pencils, in flour or shaving foam.
We are indepdentently trying to write short sentences this half term. Take a look at some activities to do at home with your child linked to our topic.
Use the RWI letter formation rhymes below to support you to form your letters correctly.
Maths
We follow White Rose Maths and NCETM Mastering Number programme. This half term we will be focusing on recalling our number bonds to 5 and 10, counting past 20 and comparing amounts using language such as more than, less than or equal to.
Please see below some ideas you can do to support your child.
